per e-mail Kontakt mit Nic von Whale Watch Westcork (http://www.whalewatchwestcork.com)
aufgenommen und heute war der ideale Tag dies zu tun! Die See war spiegelglatt
und die Sonne glänzte fast wolkenlos! : ) Um 9 Uhr war Besammlung im Hafen von
Baltimore, wo Nic mit 2 Booten seine Gäste an Bord nahm. Mit 25 Jahren
Erfahrung auf seinem Buckel, hatte er viel zu erzählen...
I was in e-maile contact with Nic from Whale Watch Westcork (http://www.whalewatchwestcork.com) and today was the ideal day to do so! The sea was smooth as glass and the sun shone almost without a cloud in its way! : ) At 9 am there we met at the port of Baltimore, where Nic took his guests on board of his 2 boats. With 25 years of experience he had a lot of knowledge and stories to share...

Von
weitem sahen wir viele ‘gewöhnliche’ Delfine und auch Rissos, die 3 mal so
gross und bis 4 m lang werden. Nic war gar nicht zufrieden und liess nicht locker
bis die Delphine wie gewohnt zwischen den beiden Booten spielten! : )
From a distance we saw many common dolphins and also Rissos, which are 3 times as big and up to 4 m long. Nic wasn't satisfied at all and didn't give up until the dolphins played between the two boats, as usual! : )

Als wir
die Insel Claire umrundet hatten, fuhren wir in den South Harbour. Dort gibt es
einen kleinen Laden mit Café und Essen. Den stündigen Stopp benutzte ich um
meine Beine zu vertreten und so viel wie möglich der Insel Claire zu entdecken.
When we had rounded the island of Claire, we drove into the South Harbour. There is a small shop with a cafe and food. I used the hour stop to stretch my legs and discover as much as possible of Claire Island.

Auf dem
Rückweg sahen wir Kormorane, die ihre Flügel weit offen trockneten. Auch
Seehunde, die sehr schwierig zu entdecken sind: Im Wasser lugen sie nur ein
bisschen raus, was aussieht wie ein Stein, und wenn sie auf den Felsen ruhen,
glitzern sie wie die Felsen. Aus der angesagte
3-4 stündige Tour wurden 6 Stunden – absolut genial und so abwechslungsreich,
dass wir gar nicht merkten, dass es schon 3 am Nachmittag war als wir zurück im
Hafen von Baltimore ankamen. – Was für ein traumhafter Tag! : ))

On the way back we saw cormorants drying their wings wide open. Also
seals which are very difficult to spot: in the water they just peek out a
little, what looks like a rock, and when they rest on the rocks they glitter
like they do. The normally 3-4 hour’s tour turned into 6 hours - absolutely brilliant
and so varied that we didn't even notice that it was already 3 in the afternoon
when we arrived the port of Baltimore. – What a fantastic day! : ))
