Seit 3 Tagen hatte ich Zahnschmerzen und sie wurden nicht weniger… Zum Glück hatte ich Zimtöl dabei, das so stark ist, dass ein Tropfen die Schmerzen für ein paar Stunden ausser Gefecht setzte! Aber ich kannte diese Schmerzen… vor 12 Jahren, als ich Südamerika für 7 Monate bereiste, ging es mir gleich und es blieb mir nichts anderes übrig als einen Zahnarzt aufzusuchen. So rief ich gestern Nics Zahnarzt an und die nette Dame am Telefon versprach mir mich zurückzurufen, sobald sie einen Norfalltermin frei hatte… und das tat sie am folgenden Tag. Um 16:30 Uhr am Samstag Abend suchte ich Dr. Pat O’Brien (https://www.goldenpages.ie/o-brien-patk-bds-nui-skibbereen) in Skibbereen auf. Er machte ein Röntgenbild und sah, dass der Backenzahn mit einer Krone am Sterben war… Genau wie vor 12 Jahren hatte mich mein Zahnarzt überredet eine Krone anfertigen zu lassen dabei wollte der Zahn gar nicht mehr – mit oder ohne Krone! Damals liess ich in Peru denselben Zahn auf der linken unteren Seite ziehen, und heute war meine Entscheidung sehr schnell gefällt: Ziehen statt teures und zeitaufwändiges Reparieren! – Ich habe noch genug Zähne, inklusive aller Weisheitszähne! : )

I had a toothache for 3 days and it wasn't getting any less... Luckily I had cinnamon oil with me, which is so strong that one drop stopped the pain for a few hours! But I knew this pain... 12 years ago, when I was travelling South America for 7 months, I felt the same and had no choice but to see a dentist. Consequently I called Nic's dentist yesterday and the nice lady on the phone promised to call me back as soon as she had an emergency appointment available... and she did the following day. At 4:30 pm on Saturday evening I went to Dr. Pat O’Brien (https://www.goldenpages.ie/o-brien-patk-bds-nui-skibbereen) in Skibbereen. He took an x-ray and saw that the molar with a crown was dying... Just like 12 years ago, when my dentist had persuaded me to have a crown made, but the tooth did no longer wanted to live - with or without a crown! Back then in Peru I had the same tooth extracted, just on the lower left side, and today I made the decision very quickly: take it out instead of an expensive and time-consuming reparing! – I still have enough teeth including all wisdom teeth! ; )

Eine Stunde später war ich draussen – die Wurzel meines Zahnes was so tief verankert, dass Pat ihn in 2 Stücke sägen musste… aber ich war froh, hatte ich es hinter mir! Und ich hatte das Gefühl jetzt ausbalanciert zu sein: Hatte ich doch nun 12 Jahre meist meine rechte Seite zum Kauen benutzt – nun würde sich das ändern! : ) Schmerzen hatte ich keine mehr, nur musste ich eine halbe Stunde auf einen Verband beissen um die starke Blutung zu stoppen…

An hour later I was out - the root of my tooth was so deeply embedded that Pat had to saw into 2 pieces... but I was glad it was over! And I had the feeling of being balanced out now: I had mostly used my right side to chew for 12 years - now that would change! : ) I didn't have any pain anymore, I just had to bite on a bandage for half an hour to stop the heavy bleeding...

Der August war kein wirklicher Sommermonat in Irland… es war eher kühl mit viel Regen. Aber wenn immer sich die Sonne zeigte, machte ich mich auf meine Zeit draussen zu verbringen – auch mein Morgenjoga. : )

Ich war echt erleichtert mich diesen Monat nicht um die stressvolle Wohnungssuche kümmern zu müssen! Stattdessen konzentrierte ich mich auf die Pflege meiner Haut und folgte strikt dem medizinischen Stundenplan. Nach 5 Tagen waren die Schwellungen an meinen Händen fast verschwunden und die Haut nicht mehr rot! : ) Ich hielt mich fit: meinen Geist mit Irisch (Duolingo: https://www.duolingo.com) und meinen Körper mit (Morgen) Yoga (Yoga mit Kassandra: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCX32D3gKXENrhOXdZjWWtMA) und Jogging – inklusive kurzer Sprung ins kalte Salzwasser.

I was really relieved not to have to worry about the stressful apartment search this month! Instead, I focused on taking care of my skin and strictly followed the medical schedule. After 5 days, the swelling on my hands had almost disappeared and the skin was no longer red! : ) I kept myself fit: my mind with Irish (Duolingo: https://www.duolingo.com) and my body with (morning) yoga (yoga with Kassandra: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCX32D3gKXENrhOXdZjWWtMA) and jogging - including a quick jump into the cold salt water.

Ich fühlte mich wohl und geborgen bei Nic und seiner Familie. Sein Haus wird mit Solarenergie betrieben und ich staunte, wie wenig Sonne es benötigt um einen Haushalt elektrisch versorgen zu können. Zudem lebt man so näher der Natur und geht nach der Sonne… : ) Ich liess meine Seele baumeln mit einem herrlichen Bad, einer Pedicure von Maria (Beautique, Skibbereen: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100042693470280) und einer Fussmassage von Olarug (Sunflower, Skibbereen: https://www.sunflowerthaitherapy.com). : )

I felt comfortable and safe with Nic and his family. His house is powered by solar energy and I was amazed at how little sun it takes to power a household. In addition, you live closer to nature and follow the sun... : ) I let my soul unwind with a wonderful bath, a pedicure by Maria (Beautique, Skibbereen: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100042693470280) and a foot massage by Olarug (Sunflower, Skibbereen: https://www.sunflowerthaitherapy.com). : )

Das Wetter war durchmischt und wenn die Sonne versprach etwas zu verweilen, packte ich meine Tagestasche und fuhr los. So unternahm ich einen Ausflug zum Beacon Point und Baltimore. Auf dem Weg entdeckte ich einen kleinen namenslosen Strand, der zum (Sonnen-)Bad einlud. Ich verbrachte fast 2 Stunden dort, bis mehr und mehr Leute ihren Feierabend am Strand geniessen kamen…

The weather was mixed and when the sun promised to linger, I packed my day bag and set off. I took a trip to Beacon Point and Baltimore. On the way I discovered a small, nameless beach that was perfect for (sun)bathing. I spent almost 2 hours there until more and more people arrived to enjoy their evening on the beach...

Eine andere Rundfahrt führte mich nach Castletownshead und dann nach Farranconnar, wo ich einen Hügel mit dramatischer Aussicht bestieg. Zum Abendessen traf ich mich mit John in Owenahincha und ich bereitete ein Filet-Goulasch Stroganoff zu – zum Glück kann ich kochen: mmmhhhhh! : )

Another circuit took me to Castletownshead and then to Farranconnar, where I climbed a hill with dramatic views. For dinner I met John in Owenahincha and I prepared a fillet goulash stroganoff - luckily I know how to cook: mmmhhhhh! :)
