Zufälle – oder noch nicht!?
All coincidences – or maybe not!?
Alles begann letzten Samstag, als ich auf dem Weg an die Ostküste etwas von der Strasse abkam und meinen sowie Barries Spiegel demolierte… es war mein Fehler und ich entschuldigte mich dafür… alles was ich noch tun konnte, ist 2 Spiegel zu besorgen… Also machte ich mich auf die Suche nach einem Occasionsspielgel aussen rechts für meinen A3 sowie einen entsprechenden für Barry’s Berlingo… er hatte eingewilligt ebenfalls einen vom Abbruch montieren zu lassen. Viele Internetseiten und Anrufe später fand ich beide Spiegel bei Pat Skelton (https://www.facebook.com/p/Pat-Skelton-Car-Breakers-100057636691959) in Bunclody – nur gerade 20 km und 20 Minuten von Enniscorthy entfernt! : )
It all started last Saturday, when I came off the road a bit on my way to the east coast and smashed my mirror as well as Barry’s... it was my mistake and I apologized for it… all I could do more was getting 2 mirrors... Consequently I started looking for a used outside mirror on the right for my A3 and a corresponding one for Barry's Berlingo... he had agreed to have a second-hand one installed. Many websites and calls later I finally found both mirrors at Pat Skelton (https://www.facebook.com/p/Pat-Skelton-Car-Breakers-100057636691959) in Bunclody - just 20 km and 20 minutes from Enniscorthy! : )

In Bunclody war ich bereits letzte Woche, weil ich einen spontanen Zahnarzttermin erhalten hatte… bei dieser Gelegenheit hielt ich bei einer vermeintlichen Garage an um den immer lauter werdenden Lärm zu überprüfen, den meine Bremsen verursachten. Der nette Besitzer des Bunclody Motor Factors (https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100032956447322) begutachtete meine Räder und sagte, dass ich die Bremsklötze auswechseln muss – einige habe er an Lager, die andern muss er für morgen bestellen… Dies noch in meinem Wissen, rief ich ihn an und bat mir die Bremsklötze für morgen zu reservieren und/oder zu bestellen…
I had been in Bunclody only last week due to a spontaneous dentist appointment... on that occasion I had stopped at a supposed garage to check the increasingly loud noise, which my brakes were causing. The nice owner of Bunclody Motor Factors (https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100032956447322) looked at my wheels and said that I need to replace the brake pads - some he had in stock, the others he would have to order and by tomorrow... Knowing this, I called him and asked to reserve and/or order the brake pads for tomorrow...

Nun fehlte mir nur noch jemand, der alles montieren würde – am besten natürlich in Bunclody! Ich hatte bereits seit 2 Wochen vergeblich versucht eine Garage in Enniscorthy zu finden um einen kleinen Service machen zu lassen, aber alle waren ausgebucht bis November… Mein jetziges Glück hielt jedoch an und ich war mit meinem ersten Versuch bei der Denton Garage in Bunclody (https://www.facebook.com/dentontyres) erfolgreich! Mark von der Denton Garage antwortete mir: Wenn ich bis 9:30 Uhr morgen früh mein Auto bringe, wird er Zeit haben alles zu montieren! : ))
Now all I needed was someone who would assemble everything - ideally in Bunclody of course! I had already been trying in vain for 2 weeks to find a garage in Enniscorthy to have a small service done, but they were all fully booked until November... However, my current luck continued on and my first attempt with Denton Garage in Bunclody (https://www.facebook.com/dentontyres) was successful! Mark from Denton Garage answered: If you bring your car in by 9:30 tomorrow morning, I will have time to assemble everything! : )

Also verliess ich The Range (https://www.sykescottages.co.uk/cottage/County-Carlow-Davidstown/The-Range-29694.html) am Dienstag Morgen um 8:30 Uhr… ich holte eingangs Bunclody die Spiegel bei Pat Skelton, im Dorf die Bremsklötze bei Bunclody Motor Factors und stand pünktlich um 9:30 Uhr vor der Denton Garage, wo Mark mich fröhlich empfing. Er würde bis am Mittag alles montiert haben und ich somit genügend Zeit für einen Cappuccino im Brother’s und eine herrliche Joggingtour durch den auftauenden Bunclody Golf Platz! : )
Thus I left The Range (https://www.sykescottages.co.uk/cottage/County-Carlow-Davidstown/The-Range-29694.html) at 8:30 am on Tuesday morning... I picked up the mirrors at Pat Skelton entering Bunclody, the brake pads at Bunclody Motor Factors in the village and was in front of the Denton Garage at 9:30 am sharp, where Mark happily welcomed me. He would have everything assembled by midday, giving me enough time for a cappuccino at Brother's and a lovely run through the thawing Bunclody Golf Course!

Als ich um 12 Uhr zurück bei der Denton Garage war, wusste ich bereits aus Marks Nachricht, dass die Bremszangen hinten defekt waren und dringend ausgewechselt werden mussten – dies hatte den höllischen Lärm verursacht. Ich hatte jedoch keine Ahnung wie dringend es war, denn ich dachte ich würde am nächsten Tag wiederkommen, wenn diese Zangen eintreffen würden… Mark insistierte und liess mich keinen weiteren Meter fahren – und ich realisierte, dass ich es so niemals bis nach Dublin geschafft hätte am Samstag…
When I got back to the Denton Garage at noon I already knew from Mark's message that the rear brake callipers were broken and needed to be replaced urgently - this was what was causing the hellish noise. However, I had no idea how urgent it was, because I thought I would come back the next day when these callipsers arrived... Mark insisted and didn't let me drive another meter - and I realized that I would never have made it to Dublin on Saturday…

Es blieb mir also nichts anderes übrig als mein Auto bei Mark in Bunclody zu lassen und er bot mir an, mich nach Hause zu fahren… : ) Ohne Auto ist man in Irland verloren, so besorgte ich einige Einkäufe und Mark fuhr mich in seiner Mittagszeit nach Hause. Auf dieser Fahrt offenbarten sich weitere Zufälle – oder eben nicht!? Ich erzählte, dass ich am Samstag für 6 Monate nach Dubai fliegen würde und deshalb dringend mein Auto zurück haben musste… und Mark sagte mir, dass er 5 jüngere Schwestern hat und eine in Dubai arbeitet und wohnt, er werde sie im Februar besuchen! Dann fiel mir ein, dass ich morgen ein TagesSPA bei Monart SPA ergattert hatte, das nur 3 km von The Range entfernt war und ich gut zu Fuss erreichen konnte…. und Mark verriet mir, dass seine Schwester Tara im Monart am SPA Empfang arbeitete!! Und als wir in die Nähe meines Zuhauses The Range kamen, liess er mich wissen, dass er nur gerade 5 Minuten entfernt wohnt – er würde mir morgen mein Auto auf dem Nachhauseweg vor die Tür stellen!!! : ))
I had no choice but to leave my car with Mark in Bunclody and he offered to drive me home... : ) You're lost in Ireland without a car, so I did some shopping and Mark drove me home in his lunchtime. More coincidences revealed themselves on this lift - or weren't they!? I explained him that I was flying to Dubai on Saturday for 6 months and therefore needed to get my car back urgently by then... and Mark told me that he has 5 younger sisters and one works and lives in Dubai, he will visit her in February! Then I remembered that I had a day SPA tomorrow at Monart SPA, which was only 3 km from The Range and within easy walking distance…. and Mark answered, that his sister Tara worked at the SPA reception of Monart!! And when we got close to my home The Range, he said that he only lived 5 minutes away - he would bring back my car on the way home tomorrow!!! : ))

Ich
fühlte mich wie auf einer Glückswolke, wo alles in Ordnung ist und die mich sorglos
in die Zukunft segelt… Am Mittwoch bot Lola (Vermieterin The Range) an mich zum
Monart SPA (https://monart.ie) zu fahren, da es in Strömen regnete. Ein idealer Tag mich verwöhnen
zu lassen, diesmal sogar inklusive Massage! Und wer empfang mich an der
Reception? - Tara, Marks Schwester! - Bis der Tag vorüber war, hatte sich der
Himmel aufgeklärt und ich genoss einen herrlichen Spaziergang zurück nach Hause…
Am Abend war Barry so nett zu mir zu fahren um seinen Spiegel abzuholen, der in meinem
Auto war, das mir Mark weiterfahrbereit zurückbrachte! - Alles erledigt und
noch viel mehr: Dieser kleine Unfall hat mir sehr wahrscheinlich das Leben
gerettet…

I felt like on a cloud of happiness, where everything was fine, sailing
me carefree into the future... On Wednesday Lola (my lovely landlady of The
Range) offered to drive me to Monart SPA (https://monart.ie) as it was raining cats and dogs. An
ideal day to let myself be treated, this time even including a massage! And who
was welcoming me at the reception? - Tara, Mark's sister! - By the time the day
was over, the sky had cleared and I enjoyed a lovely walk back home... In the
evening Barry was kind enough to drive to my place to collect his mirror, which was in my car,
that Mark drove back to me, ready for my onward journey! - All done and more:
This little accident most likely saved my life...
